One of the significant events throughout the country is the observance of the joyous Yuletide season. Traditionally, people around the nation commonly use firecrackers and pyrotechnics, or even firearms to commemorate the celebration. With the proliferation of incident reports on victims of indiscriminate firings of guns caused by stray bullets, a stringent directive was passed prohibiting the use of firearms during Yuletide season.
PCSUPT MIGUEL C. ANTONIO JR., Police Regional Office 9 Director, directed all Provincial and City Directors, Chiefs of Police, and Public Safety Commanders to observe the simultaneous muzzle taping on all issued firearms of PNP personnel in their respective provinces/cities during the flag raising ceremony on December 14, 2015.
PRO 9 headquarter personnel together with RPSB 9 and Regional Support Uits had a muzzle-taping activity during the flag raising ceremony held at Camp Abendan.
The significance and purpose of the activity is to prevent PNP personnel from being involved in indiscriminate firing during the holiday season. This is also an assurance to the public that the PNP leadership will not tolerate the malfeasance of its members. Any PNP member who will fail to comply as directed shall be dealt with accordingly.
