Written by Publisher on . Posted in IT Advisory

A recent phishing attempt was made on an official PNP email address sent thru email coming from a sender using the name “RedBull London UK” with email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Said scammer uses a very catchy subject line such as “WINNING NOTIFICATION” to attract the recipient into taking his spurious offer.

Accordingly, the alleged scammer convinces the targeted recipient that their e-mail address has been awarded £3,500,000.00 in the Red Bull International Promotion in the UK. To claim the prize, the targeted email users are told to send their contact number and the enclosed code in the message to be sent to another bogus e-mail address “This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.". Following the scammer’s instructions can further lead to serious consequences such as identity theft, online fraud, ransomware, and cyber-extortion. There is no guarantee that the money stolen by these fraudsters will be returned even if the perpetrators are arrested. E-mail users are warned not to be deceived by these syndicates. Usually, such messages are screened by popular email programs and placed in the spam folder, but there are instances when it finds its way in the legitimate email inbox. Those who have received this type of email are warned not to respond to it and to never open any attachment or hyperlink. Instead, email users are advised to delete the scam message or press “Report as Spam” in their respective email programs.
