The commitment of the police force in the region in support to the Philippine National Police and the Police Regional Office 9 remains steadfast despite of the report that the whole police organization is in limbo due to the absence of a formal head of the agency. Said report was published in the national newspaper, Philippine Daily Inquirer’s March 19 issue.
There is no monitored report on any divisiveness among members in the command. Both Police Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Officers are working in harmony in serving the people towards the attainment of its goals and missions.
The leadership of the office enjoys the unwavering support of its members and the community in enforcing the laws, especially in the campaign against all forms of criminalities. This is attributed to the strong leadership of Police Chief Superintendent Edgar Basbas, Acting Regional Director, with the untiring support of the members of the Command Group.
The reported limbo in the organization is due to the call of several senior police officers to appoint a permanent replacement of Police Director General Alan Purisima, who resigned after the Mamasapano controversy.
A ranking officer who declined to be named, said that many in the 150,000 strong PNP are demoralized over the recent developments involving the PNP, noting that the public perception has been declining because the PNP has no formally designated leader, the ranking officer said. The personnel of PRO 9 are never affected over this reported public perception towards the PNP organization.
The Police Regional Office 9 wishes to inform the public that the PNP organization will soon have a new PNP Chief. PRO 9 is performing its duties and responsibilities to the best of its abilities and is not affected with the absence of a full-time PNP Chief. The services being rendered to the people will never be jeopardized. The public is urged to continuously support the police by providing timely and reliable information that will help in its crime prevention and solution programs.
