Zamboanga Sibugay - Two members of a criminal group operating in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, particularly in the island municipalities were arrested by the combined elements of Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office led by Police Senior Inspector Adrian K. Tolingan - Chief, Intelligence Branch, and 17th Special Forces, Seaborne Company, Philippine Army in the afternoon of April 21, 2015 during the conduct of law enforcement operation.
Arrested suspects were identified as Bandong Wahab and Ommar Jain, both members of Aburi-Sabtal Criminal Group. They were arrested at Sitio Masanang and Sitio Tandu Patao respectively, both of Barangay Poblacion, Payao. They are listed as most wanted persons in Payao Municipality.
Bandong Wahab is the province’s number 7 Most Wanted Person, while Omar Jain is at number 10. Both were charged before the Sala of Judge Josefino Perater Bael of Regional Trial Court 9, Branch 31, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay for the crimes of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention, docketed under Criminal Case Number IM-13-0775, Frustrated Murder, docketed under Criminal Case Number IM-13-0627 with recommended bail bond of Php 200,000 for each case, and Robbery, docketed under Criminal Case Number IM-130774 with recommended bail bond of Php 100,000.00.
The arrest of these two most wanted persons was the result of the intensified campaign of Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office against lawless and criminal elements in their area of responsibility, especially in the island municipalities where the criminals sought haven and victimizing innocent civilians. Relevant and timely information provided by the intelligence units has entailed the success of the operation.
Likewise, with the arrest of the duo, it undermines the Aburi-Sabtal Group in their conduct of nefarious activities. With this action, justice will be served to their victims. Law enforcers will not cease from running after the remaining members of said criminal group, until all the group members are neutralized. Hence, the leadership of Police Regional Office 9 urges the public to support the police force in their respective communities in this campaign by providing timely and relevant information that could lead to the arrest of criminal elements especially the members of Aburi-Sabtal Criminal Group.
