Arrested wanted person was identified as Lieutenant Junior Grade Benjie J. Chico of the Philippine Navy, formerly assigned at Navy Headquarters and HSG, who went Absent-Without-Leave since November 28, 2014. This is based on the order of apprehension issued by the Navy. Chico is allegedly responsible for the killing of First Liuetenant Shelina Calumay inside the Marine Barracks at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

During the course of the operation, as the team approached the hideout of the subject, an unidentified person suddenly ran away from the area after seeing the authorities. The government troops were alerted by this, mistaking him for Chico, and pursued him until he was cornered in a comfort room. The man was directed to go out of hiding. To their surprise, the cornered man turned out to be Pedot Malazarte, who is included in the illegal drugs watch list in Imelda town. Due to his suspicious action, the PNP subjected him to a body search. The policemen merely recovered drug paraphernalia. Thus, he was formally arrested for violation of sec.12, R.A. 9165. The duo was subsequently brought to Imelda Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
