Zamboanga del Norte - Operatives of Kalawit MPS, Titay MPS, 9th RPSB, 1st Maneuver Company, and 20th Army Special Forces conducted a manhunt operation in Sitio Gumotoc, Kalawit, this province at about 5:30 PM of June 14, 2015.

This led to the death of the suspect identified as Leonardo Fuentes after he resisted arrest and fought with the arresting team. The authorities intended to serve the warrant of arrest against the suspect for a Rape case docketed under CC# I-4087 with no bail bond recommended, issued by Presiding Judge Reuben Maraon of RTC9, Branch 24, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay dated July 24, 2009. However, upon presenting the said warrant of arrest, the suspect abruptly hacked the arresting officer but the latter was able to evade and defend himself. The arresting officers ran towards the suspect but Fuentes threw a hand grenade at them. No one was injured when said grenade exploded. This prompted the arresting team to retaliate on the suspect as he was about to throw another grenade. The suspect failed to release the grenade as it exploded on his right hand. The suspect died on the spot after suffering gunshot wounds on his body.
