The Police Regional Office has launched the kick-off ceremony of the observance of Police Community Relations Month today, June 29, 2015. The activity was held at the Police Regional Office 9 Headquarters, Camp Col. Romeo A. Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City and was conducted right after the Monday Morning Flag Raising Ceremony.
The simple ceremony was spearheaded by Police Chief Superintendent Edgar Orduña Basbas, Acting Regional Director with Atty. Pablito Abad, Acting Regional Director, NAPOLCOM was the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The observance of PCR Month is in line with the Presidential Proclamation Number 764 which declares July of every year as PCR Month, with the NAPOLCOM as the lead agency and the PNP as the implementing agency. The PCR Month posts as opportune time to enhance public awareness on its crucial role in crime prevention.
With its theme “Matibay na Ugnayan ng Mamamamayan at Pulisya, Simbolo ng Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng Sambayanan”, the activities concentrate in continuing bridging the gap between and the PNP and community in the fight against criminality.
The Guest of Honor and Speaker in his message during the said program, he stressed that the crime prevention is a shared responsibilities between the law enforcers and communities. He cited the role of the communities in helping the PNP in the fight against criminalities all forms of criminalities.
The Acting Regional Director of the NAPOLCOM also stressed the importance of the Police Community Relations to the PNP Organization especially in the crime prevention measures.
There are several activities are lined-up during this year’s observance of PCR Month. Community participations are targets of these activities which involved the crime prevention and the elimination of the illegal drugs.
On the culmination ceremony which will be on July 31, 2015, the PRO 9 will be giving awards and commendations for the PNP personnel in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Command.
