18 Human Trafficking Victims Rescued in ZC

Zamboanga City – Eighteen individuals were rescued in two separate operations against human trafficking conducted on August 9, 2015.

Joint members of Sea-Based Anti-Trafficking Task Force (SBATTF) composed of Philippine Center on Transnational Crime, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Coast Guard, Naval Intelligence Service Group – Western Mindanao, and Zamboanga City Police Office conducted a joint rescue operation on alleged trafficking in person at the Hermosa Hotel located along Mayor C. Climaco St. at about 5:45 PM on August 9, 2015. This resulted in the rescue of fourteen female victims from Bicol Region, Nueva Ecija, Bacolod, Plaridel, Negros Occidental and Manila.  Recovered from them were passports. The victims were turned-over to the Haven for temporary custody.

At about 9:15 in the evening of August 9, 2015, the SBATTF conducted joint rescue operation on alleged trafficking in person at Medio Hotel, Buenavista St., Zamboanga City that resulted in the rescue of female victims from Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur. Alleged victims were turned over to Bahay Silungan Visayan Forum for temporary custody.
