Police Chief Superintendent Miguel Cabanatan Antonio, Jr., Officer-In-Charge of the Police Regional Office 9 has directed Police Senior Superintendent Angelito A Casimiro, City Director of Zamboanga City Police to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the shooting incident that transpired at Barangay Labuan, Zamboanga City on Tuesday evening, wherein, two personnel of Regional Public Safety Battalion 9 and a member of the Philippine Marines were involved.
Leadership of Police Regional Office was saddened over the shooting incident. The said incident stemmed from a misunderstanding that resulted in the death of two policemen and Philippine Marines personnel. The fatalities of the incident are PO3 Alkashimr Lipae, PO1 Muhsin Jainul and Corporal Jason Marqueses.
The public should know that the police and the military are still on top of the situation and should not to be alarmed over the incident. Despite the unfortunate incident, the police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, especially the Task Force Zamboanga headed by Colonel Colina, are always in good terms. The public is also assured that there will be no further vengeance among the peers of the fatalities.
The ill-fated Labuan incident is considered as an isolated case. The two slain PNP personnel and a member of the Philippine Marines who were involved in the shoot-out do not represent the whole unit they were assigned. Commanders of both units have diffused the tension to prevent the occurrence of retaliation from the comrades of both fatalities.
The leadership of Police Regional Office 9 never ceases in reminding its personnel in connection with their tasks, not to be remiss in the performance of their duties, especially in serving the people and community, and not to get involved in illegal activities. Most of all, they must establish good rapport with the friendly forces and the people.
