Abu Sayyaf Leader Cornered in Tungawan

Zamboanga Sibugay - A leader of Abu Sayyaf Group – Urban Terrorist Group was arrested during an operation conducted by Zamboanga Sibugay PPO and 6th Special Forces Battallion - Philippine Army, along with 304th AISG Philippine Air Force in Brgy. Poblacion, Tungawan municipality at about 11:30 in the evening of August 25, 2015.

The personality was identified as Ibni Acosta, an ASG-UTG leader involved in the Sipadan kidnapping, and has an existing warrant of arrest docketed under Criminal Case No. 122473-122493 (21 counts) for Kidnapping, Serious Illegal Detention with Ransom, and has a monetary reward of Php 4.3 Million per DND-DILG Joint Order Number 15-2012 dated November 8, 2012. The arrested ASG-UTG leader was brought to Philippine Army Headquarters in Sitio DK, Barangay Libertad, and also taken to Tungawan Municipal Police Station for booking procedure and subsequently brought to Zamboanga City by the operating team for proper disposition.
