Perpetrator of Shooting Incident Nabbed in Cawit

Zamboanga City - A shooting incident transpired at about 11:00 PM on November 5, 2015 in Zone 3-B, Barangay Cawit. The victims were identified as John Michael Cabrera y Francisco, 24, and a certain “Raiza” of legal age, allegedly from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

On November 6, 2015 at about 11:00 AM, Ayala Police Station conducted a follow-up operation in Purok 1-B, Brgy. Recodo, which resulted in the arrest of Jesus Simpao y Salogan a.k.a. “Bata”, 29, resident of said place.

Furthermore, the suspect admitted the involvement of his other companions during the shooting spree. The Ayala PS conducted another operation in Purok 4, Darussalam, Brgy. Recodo. However suspects identified as Bestialih y Yahsin alias “Teng” and a certain Jeffrey Hamja fired their gun and were able to elude arrest. Two caliber 45 magazines with five live rounds of ammunition, as well as an M16 ammunition, one plastic case of caliber 45, two small plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and other drug paraphernalia were recovered inside the house of the suspects. All recovered items were seen in plain view during the operation. Also confiscated from the area were a slot machine and a unit motorcycle. Salogan is currently detained at ZCPS9 for proper disposition.
