Smuggled Goods Seized in Ship from Tawi-Tawi

Zamboanga City - Personnel of FSSWM together with Naval Intelligence Service Group –Western Mindanao, CGS Zamboanga, ZCPO Intelligence Branch, Bureau of Customs 9, PNP Maritime Unit, Marine Battalion Landing Team-3 and intelligence operatives from JITG ZAMBASULTA conducted a search operation at M/V Trisia Kerstine 2 at about 12:48 PM on January 22, 2016.

Said vessel arrived at Zamboanga Port from Bongao, Tawi-tawi reportedly carrying contraband onboard. Upon arrival of said vessel, the authorities were able to confiscate one large wooden fish container filled with undocumented boxes/cases of imported tobacco cigarettes. Furthermore, hundreds of reams of Fort cigarettes were also recovered hidden underneath the passenger bed located at the second deck of the vessel, and more or less four hundred smuggled sacks of rice marked 25-kg AAA concealed into big white sacks. The confiscated cargos were turned-over to the Bureau of Customs for inventory and proper disposition.
