31 Human Trafficking Victims Rescued in ZC

A rescue operation was conducted jointly on August 11, 2016 at about 7:24 PM by personnel of Zamboanga Sea-based Anti-Trafficking Task Force/Regional Anti-Trafficking Task Force 9, elements of RSOG, Zamboanga City prosecutor’s office, MAPIO, Task Force Zambonga, RPSB9, DSWD IX, Philippine Coast Guard and ZCPS9.

This resulted in the rescue of the thirty-one human trafficking victims from Guimaras, Samar, Davao, Pampanga, Quezon City, Mindoro provinces, Kalinga, Batangas, Iloilo, South Cotabato, General Santos, Parañaque City, Cavite, Mandaluyong City, Tarlac City, Bulacan, Isabela, Bohol, Marikina City, Pasay City, Laguna, Las Piñas City, Tuguegarao, and Sultan Kudarat. The rescued victims were brought by DSWD social workers to a temporary shelter. The suspects identified as Nash Duga y Lachenebre, 21, and Maricel Hamid y Talib, 42, both of Zone 2, Brgy. Cawit, Zamboanga City, are temporarily detained at ZCPS9 (Ayala) pending the filing of a criminal case for violation of R.A. 9208 "Large-Scale Trafficking in Persons".
