11 Victims of Human Trafficking Rescued in Lower Calarian

Personnel from WCPC-MFU led by PSUPT CHRISTINE S TAN, OIC, in coordination with RIACAT 9 and ZCPS 11, WCPD, ZCPSC-SWAT, CSWDO and PNP, 5th Special Action Force Battalion, conducted a joint rescue operation at about 5:15 PM on January 8, 2017 in Barangay Lower Calarian, Zamboanga City.

This resulted in the rescue of eleven females who are alleged victims of Trafficking-In-Persons. The victims originated from Davao del Sur, Lucena City, Sacol Island in Zamboanga City, Rizal, Las PiƱas City, La Union, Nueva Ecija City, Kalinga, Taguig City, and Palawan.

During the said operation, the suspects sensed the presence of the operating team and eluded arrest. A team from WCPC and ZCPSC-SWAT launched a pursuit operation to arrest the suspects.

The rescued victims were brought to DSWD 9 Shelter for Women for temporary shelter and evaluation and processing. WCPC, with the help of Zamboanga City Social Welfare and Development Office is now conducting in-depth investigation to identify the elusive suspects.
