Operatives of Zamboanga City Police Station 3, NISG, PCTC, Zamboanga City Police Station 4 Philippine Coast Guard, DSWD, OCSWD, DOJ and the Visayan Forum conducted an operation at Margarita Resort in Barangay Cabaluay about 8:30 PM on February 7, 2017.

This resulted in the arrest of two suspected trafficking handers identified as Ruel Arcuimo Donayre, 29, and Girlie Manalo Ignacio, 43, both residents of Sitio Pook, Brgy. Cabaluay, and rescued six female victims of human trafficking from various provinces in the country – Montalban in Rizal, San Pablo City in Laguna, Baguio City, and Quiapo in Manila, with ages from 19 to 28 years old. Initial investigation disclosed that the transactions were made through text between the victims and recruiter  identified as a certain “Bensar”, resident of Tawi-Tawi, who promised to give them jobs in Malaysia, who will also transport them to said country via a sea vessel from Tawi-Tawi on February 8, 2017. Allegedly, the plane tickets, food and accommodations of the victims in going to Zamboanga City were shouldered by their recruiter, and after they get to their jobs, all the expenses that their recruiter have incurred will be deducted from their salaries.
