Combined operatives of Regional Special Operation Group-Regional Intelligence Division 9, Intelligence Branch-Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office, Ipil MPS and military intelligence agencies conducted a law enforcement operation at Diane Hotel in Barangay Tirso Babiera, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 1:15 PM on February 3, 2017.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Odih Wahab, resident of Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, a member of the Barahama Ali criminal group and listed as the number 1 Most Wanted Person (Provincial Level) in Zamboanga Sibugay Province.
This is by virtue of warrant of arrest for robbery docketed under Criminal Case Number with i-6423 and i-6262 issued by Presiding Judge Vicente De La Plaza II of the RTC Branch 36, 9th Judicial Region, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, and warrants for highway robbery/brigandage docketed under Criminal Case Number i-6261 and murder docketed under Criminal Case No. i-6080issued by Presiding Judge Anthony DT Isaw of RTC Branch 24, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
He was one of the perpetrators involved during a shoot-out against government forces on May 2, 2015 in Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay which resulted in the burning of a Toyota Hilux PNP patrol jeep under Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Public Safety Company, the killing of SSGT Juan A Ablao of the 44th IB Philippine Army, and the series of robbery incidents that transpired along the national highway in Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Recently, Odih Wahab was also involved on the robbery-holdup incident at Barangay Upper Pangi, Ipil, victimizing the branch manager and the employees of One Network Bank (ONB) Kabasalan Branch on December 27, 2016 and the killing of Eduardo Berberio Jr. on February 14, 2015 at Harana Court Lower Taway, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. He is also listed as one of the High Value Target personalities on illegal drugs of Ipil MPS.
Confiscated from Wahab were a Norinco caliber 45 pistol with serial number 433102, two magazines, fifteen rounds of ammo, blasting caps, detonating cord, fragmentation hand grenade, three big sachets of shabu, and drug paraphernalia.
The arrested suspect and confiscated items were bought to the PIDM, Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office for documentation and proper disposition.
With this, PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, PRO9 Regional Director, lauded and commended the operating police units of PRO9 and military personnel for a job well done and for their utmost efforts that resulted in the arrest of the criminal gang member.
