ASG Member Bound for Zamboanga Caught in Pier (Update)

An Abu Sayyaf Group member was arrested by combined operatives of Task Force Zamboanga, intelligence operatives of Zamboanga City Police Office, Military Intelligence Group 9, 9th ISU, Field Station South Western Mindanao, Phil. Coast Guard, and Regional Public Safety Battalion 9 during a law enforcement operation conducted at Zamboanga City Philippine Port Authority, Zamboanga City on March 30, 2017 at 3:00 A.M. 

The arrested ASG member was identified as Amilton Tammang a.k.a “Jaiton Abub Akar”/“Nonoy”, a member of ASG Jolo under “Ajang Ajang” Group, and has a pending warrant of arrest with Criminal Case No. 1226-4 issued by Judge Betlee Ian Baraquias of RTC9 Branch 4, dated January 12, 2017.

Said suspect was a passenger of MV KC Beatrice from Jolo when he was apprehended by the government troops.  He was then immediately brought to ZCPO for proper disposition.

With this, PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, PRO9 Regional Director, lauded and commended the operating units of PNP and AFP for a job well done for their utmost effort that resulted in the arrest of said ASG member who evaded arrest by government troops few years ago.
