Alleged ASG-KFRG Member Neutralized in Island Raid

Operatives of Culianan Police Station conducted a police operation in Bilang-Bilang Island, Mercedes, Zamboanga City at about 5:00 PM on April 10, 2017. This led to the arrest of eight individuals and the death of one charged with murder who was the subject of the operation.

The team neutralized Matiling Addusi, resident of said place, who has a standing warrant of arrest for murder filed under Criminal Case Number 27450. During the raid, PO3 Zaide Pronto Tutuan, a member of said police station, sustained a gunshot wound to the head after the suspect engaged the raiding team in a shootout.


Addusi is listed as no. 3 in the illegal drugs High Value Target (city level) and a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group - Kidnap for Ransom Group under Alhabsy Misaya. On the other hand, the eight other arrested persons were identified as Sabirula Jamahali Basarahi, 40, of Arena Blanco, Marham Omboc Bumpasan, 19, from Brgy. Taluksangay, Mohammad Isniri Tating, 40, of Bilang Bilang Island, Adzron Sakiri Madda, 37, of Tuburan, Basilan, Hamja Omar Salim, 28, of Tigtabon, Sacol Island, alias “Wadud”, 17, of Tuburan, Basilan, Abubakar Olasiman Halis, 31, resident of Curuan, and Madi Harija Asmarin, 20, of Taluksangay.


Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, elements of said police station were conducting foot patrol along the shore line of Bilang Bilang Island when they chanced upon several individuals having pot session in one of the houses thereat. The suspects immediately scampered to different directions but eight of them were caught by the team. PO3 Tutuan, together with two other operatives pursued Addusi who ran inside his house. As PO3 Tutuan entered the target house, he was shot in the head by Addusi with the use of a caliber. 45 pistol with serial number 475213 which was later recovered inside the house along with a magazine loaded with four rounds ammunitions, caliber .45 and 5.56 empty shells, seven sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia placed inside a bag.


At the house where the pot session was held, the raiding team seized several shabu paraphernalia and two small sachets of shabu. The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is placed at Php 80,000.00. The eight arrested suspects are presently detained at said station. PO3 Zaide P Tutuan was rushed to a hospital in this city but later succumbed to the serious wound he suffered.
