Illegal Fisherman Intercepted in Tungawan and Olutanga

Operatives of Tungawan MPS and Tungawan MENRO conducted a joint seaborne patrol along the shoreline in Brgy. Looc Labuan, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 9:10 PM on April 24, 2017. This resulted in the apprehension of a fishing pump boat with three fishermen onboard identified as Amba Jainuddin (owner), Angelito Borres Ametaso (maestro), and Christian Raganas. They were apprehended for violation of section 26, general ordinances 30-04 known as the “use of active gears in the municipal waters (trawl)”. The following items were confiscated from them - 5 fathoms of fishing net, four and a half boxes of sap-sap fish, diesel fuel, ply board, green pump boat with white and maroon stripes, 12hp Kama engine. The respondents and the confiscated items were turned-over to the custody of MENRO LGU-Tungawan.


Operatives of Olutanga MPS conducted an operation against illegal fishing off the coast of Barangay Galas, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 1:30 PM on April 25, 2017. The team apprehended four fishermen named Efren Oplas Nartia Sr., 52, Musa Making Sarabain, 45, Efren Oplas Nartia Jr, 18, and Rex Abdurasah Nartia, 21, residents of Barangay Galas, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay. They were caught fishing using prohibited fine mesh net which violated Section 21, Article 9 of the Unified Fisheries Ordinance series of 2007. The arrested persons were brought to Olutanga MPS for proper disposition.
