Arrest of Suspect in Licomo Chairman Slay

A shooting incident transpired at about 7:30 in the evening of April 28, 2017 in front of the Barangay Hall of Licomo wherein the victim was identified as Eduardo Caloyloy y Binosa, 52, barangay chairman of Licomo.

The victim sustained five gunshot wounds on his chest, lower back, lumbar area, medial right leg, and lateral right leg. He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. At around 11:15 AM the following day, personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 1 made a pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of suspect Joenalffrey Maningo y Pedro along the national highway in Barangay Tictapul, Zamboanga City. The team recovered seven fired cartridge cases in the area which were turned-over to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO9) for cross-matching. The suspect, who refused to undergo paraffin examination, is detained at Zamboanga City Police Office pending the filing of appropriate charges in court. The motive of the incident is yet to be established.
