Action Taken on Memo from Dapitan MARPSTA Circulating the Social Media

Written by PCINSP HELEN L GALVEZ, Chief RPIO9 on . Posted in News Release

This is in connection to the MEMO containing a list of vehicles from our Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) based in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte which is unfortunately circulating widespread through social media. Please be informed that upon receipt of said information, C, RMU9 was directed to investigate on this.

Accordingly, this was an information forwarded to the station chief of MARPSTA in Dapitan City for his monitoring and validation but he made a memo and distributed it to the stakeholders which caused alarm and was posted through social media. Initially, the intention was for an information exchange as well as to really validate the veracity of this info among three shipping lines and other Law Enforcement Agencies in that area which should be treated confidentially, but it was leaked and posted through social media by a person (already identified). C,RMU9 initially reported that he reprimanded his station chief thereat and also started an investigation on the matter.
