Missing Teen Rescued in Southern Leyte from Abductor Uncle

A 16-year old female who had been missing since June 24, 2017, was rescued by combined operatives of Zamboanga City Police Station 8, WCPC-Mindanao Field Unit, DSWD9, and Liloan MPS. The operation was held in Barangay Tabungon, Liloan, Southern Leyte on July 7, 2017. 

During the operation, alias “Kar”, 32, the suspect who is the uncle of the victim, was also arrested at said place. Initial reports disclosed that the victim was taken by his uncle to a location outside Region 9. The victim was allegedly sexually exploited by the suspect during their travel to different places. After more than two weeks in the hands of her captor, the victim was rescued and her abductor was arrested. Further investigation showed that the suspect has several pending cases for trafficking in persons and is connected with other groups who use minors for illegal activities. At about 6:00 AM on July 9, 2017, the victim and the suspect arrived at Zamboanga City International Airport. Zamboanga City Police Station 8 (ZCPS8) turned-over the case to WCPC, while the suspect is detained at ZCPS8.
