ASG Member in Sipadan Kidnapping Arrested in Guiwan

A member of the Abu Sayyaf Group was arrested by combined elements of Zamboanga City Police Office Intelligence Branch, Philippine Air Force, FSSWM, NICA9, 34th Seaborne Company, 55th Special Action Company, 5th SAB PNP-SAF, and Task Force Zamboanga during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Guiwan, Zamboanga City at about 10:45 PM on July 13, 2017.

The arrested terror group member was identified as Abdulmubin Salahuddin y Kudalat. A body search made on the suspect led to the discovery of a fragmentation grenade inside his sling bag. Said personality is said to be involved in the Sipadan kidnapping incident in 2002. He is also said to be supplying firearms and ammunitions to the Jolo-based ASG. He is employed as security guard by one of the security agencies operating in Zamboanga City, and assigned in one of the malls in the city. The suspect and the recovered explosive is now under police custody.
