The suspect in the killing of an official of a Department of Education (DepEd) was formally charged for the crime of murder at the City Prosecution Office of Pagadian City on July 7, 2017. In a report that reached PRO9, an inquest case for murder was filed at the City Prosecution Office of Pagadian City on July 7, 2017 against the suspected gunman identified as Leonisio Castro Toledo, 33, married, painter, of Purok Lower Lumboy, Brangay Tuburan, Pagadian City and Barangay Baguitan, Guipos, Zamboanga Del Sur under NPS docketed no. ix-05-inq-17g-0093.
Leonisio Castro Toledo alias "Jun-Jun" was arrested at about 2:00 PM of July 5, 2017 during a follow-up operation conducted by the elements of Zamboanga Del Sur Police Provincial Office in Barangay Poblacion, Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur.
Toledo is the alleged gunman in the shooting of Marcom Borongan, the Officer-In-Charge, School Division Superintendent of Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur. The incident happened at the Pagadian City Pilot School Complex in the village of San Jose, Pagadian City at about 6:00 PM on July 3, 2017.
Accordingly, the victim was hosting a farewell party when an unidentified gunman wearing pink t-shirt alighted from a motorcycle and shot the official. After which, suspect boarded back the motorcycle and fled the area. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, one-hundred seventy (170) cellphones coming from several persons of interest were subjected to digital forensic examination by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office 9. Said examination will establish a lead in the investigation and also determine the identity of other suspects as well as the mastermind behind the senseless killing of the victim.
