21 Human Trafficking Victims Saved in ZC

Three Toyota Hi-Ace vans carrying twenty-one alleged human trafficking victims were intercepted by Zamboanga City Police Station 6 at about 8:50 PM on August 20, 2017 along MCLL Highway. The vehicles were headed for Brgy. Tugbungan, Zamboanga City. Operatives of ZCPS6 checked the said vehicles and found out about the presence of said victims of illegal recruitment.

The victims all came from Basilan and were scheduled to proceed to Cotabato City in the early morning of August 21, 2017. The victims were brought to ZCPS6 for documentation, along with the drivers of the three vans, and the two alleged recruiters named Eva Piping y Jaman, 34, of Lamitan City and Fatma Cundo y Asan, 32, of Isabela City. ZCPS6 coordinated with the Women and Children Protection Center – Mindanao Field Unit, and turned-over the twenty-one victims to DSWD9 for temporary shelter and evaluation. The suspects are currently in the custody of ZCPS6.
