The Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) PCSUPT Billy B Beltran spearheaded the commemoration of the 3rd Death Anniversary of SAF 44 in recognition of their heroism and gallantry in the service of God, country and people held at PRO9 Quadrangle, Camp Col Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on January 25, 2018 at 8:00 o’clock in the morning. Relatedly, PRO9 rendered twenty-one gun salutes in honor of their heroism and at the same time, the Regional Director together with the families and spouses of the fallen heroes offered flowers at the PNP Heroes Wall inside the PRO9 camp.
Personnel of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) headed by PCSUPT Edwin S De Ocampo, Deputy Regional Director of Administration commemorated the 29th Death Anniversary of General Eduardo Batalla and Col Romeo A Abendan through wreath-laying ceremonies in Camp Eduardo Batalla, San Jose Cawa-Cawa and Camp Romeo Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City at about 8:00 AM of January 22, 2018. A gun salute was held and flowers were offered to monuments of two local heroes, marking the 29th anniversary of their deaths during the Cawa-Cawa siege. Col. Romeo Abendan’s widow Mrs. Nenie Abendan was present during the activity.
The Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) PCSUPT Edwin S De Ocampo was among the newly-promoted star rank officers of the PNP during the oath taking and donning of ranks ceremony of newly-promoted star rank officers held at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City on January 16, 2018 presided by no less than the Chief PNP, Police Director General Ronald M Dela Rosa.

Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on Monday January 15, 2018.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 has recorded “negative” incidents of stray bullet, indiscriminate firing, and fire or burning incident due to firecrackers during the New Year’s Celebration in the City of Zamboanga City and Provinces of Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay. There were also no reported major injuries in relation to use of firecrackers.
