The Police Regional Office 9 under the leadership of Chief Supt Juanito Vaño Jr., Regional Director joins the entire country in the celebration of its 115th Independence Day on June 12.
PRO9 Spokesperson, Chief Inspector Ariel T Huesca disclosed that depending on the prevailing situation in its AOR, the PNP may raise its security alert status ahead of the 115th Independence Day celebrations on June 12 nationwide in anticipation of a possible atrocities by lawless elements. The regional police office, in coordination with the national and local organizing committees, will provide security coverage and civil disturbance management in all places of engagement in connection with the Independence Day festivities, the spokesperson said.
Field directors are mapping out their respective contingency plans and mobilizing their contingent forces to ensure the peaceful celebrations of Independence Day, wherein intelligence operatives will be deployed to major thoroughfares to closely monitor any suspicious groups or individuals who may exploit the event, he added.
PRO9 will strictly enforce the “no permit, no rally” policy in anticipation of the would-be-atrocities and further ensure that rallyists limit their actions within the bounds of the law.
Chief PIO stated that the police will always observe maximum tolerance as a guiding principle when confronted with any situation that requires police intervention and dialogue with the leaders of the groups will be done if the situation warrants. The PRO9 personnel intended for Civil Disturbance Management will be placed on standby for possible augmentation with the local police and will provide support in dealing with the rallyists if the situation will aggravate. Uniform and plainclothes policemen will also be deployed in strategic places of engagement to ensure the peaceful and meaningful celebration of the Independence Day.
