The Police Regional Office 9 will formally kick-off the celebration of 18th Police Community Relations (PCR) month this Monday, July 1, 2013 at Camp Romeo A. Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City. This month-long observance is in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 764 which declares July of every year as PCR month with the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOLM) as the lead agency.

Police Chief Superintendent Juanito B Vaño Jr, PRO9 Regional Director said that the celebration is an opportune time to foster, strengthen and highlight police and community partnership for the attainment of a safe, peaceful, orderly community and the road to “Tuwid na Daan”.

The theme, “Serbisyong Makatotohanan at Matatag na Ugnayan ng Pambansang Pulisya at Mamamayan Tungo sa Tuwid na Daan”, aims to emphasize the strong collaboration between the police and the community and to bridge the gap between them for the attainment of the law enforcer’s effectiveness in enforcing the law, reducing the occurrence of crimes and maintaining peace.

Among the highlights of the occasion is the presentation of awards and recognition to the “best practices” initiated by the PNP units/offices and personnel, recognizing their initiatives that have projected the police image not just as a regular law enforcer but a catalyst for the socio- economic development of the country.

The featured activities for the long month-long celebration include:  Video Story Contest; COP Walk…PNP on the Ramp; Muslim Elders Consultative Assembly; Slogan Making Contest; Comics and Caricature-making Contest; Drug Abuse Prevention and Education Symposium; Visitation of women’s correctional; TV and Radio guestings; Career Orientation For High School Students; and Message Development Workshop For Street Children and Children in Conflict with law.
