Ex-Soldier Dead, Former Barangay Official and 6 Others Arrested in Drug Bust

The leadership of Police Regional Office 9 commended the operatives of Zamboanga City Police Station 7, Zamboanga City Police Office on the successful buy-bust operations against illegal drugs led by Police Superintendent Diomarie Albarico, Station Commander on Monday at noontime, October 6, 2014 at Calle Bisaya, Sitio Villa, Barangay Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City.

During the police operation, exchange of gun fires caused the death of Sharif Saker y Iyang, an ex-soldier due to gunshot wounds. The police elements also arrested Ricky Jimenea y Delantado, a former barangay official of the said place and other six (6) individuals who are suspected drug pushers.

The identities of the suspects apprehended during the drugs operation are Wilhajar Tuttoh y Amilhasan, a resident of Barangay Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, Jikiri Alkap y Abdurakman, a resident of Baliwasan Commercial Complex, Barangay Baliwasan, Harold Almonte y Molina, a resident of Pluto Street, Barangay Tumaga, Zamboanga City, Bernita Tumpang y Sumugal, 23 years old, a resident of Sitio Villa, Barangay Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City and Krisna Ciara Trota y Fabugais, a resident of Sitio Villa Sta. Maria, all of Zamboanga City.            

Recovered from the arrested suspects were five (5) small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be Methamphetamine Hydrochloride locally known as “Shabu”, two (2) sachets containing residue of suspected “Shabu”, an M-16 fragmentation grenade, a Caliber 45 Pistol, brand Defender with serial number SN 1193767 with magazine loaded with five (5) rounds of ammunition, a Caliber 22 Revolver, with serial number 0-441, COLT, a pocket weighing scale, a black metal container containing nine (9) rounds of ammunition for of Magnum Caliber 22, a scissor, two (2) used aluminum foil, a roll of white tissue paper, one (1) colored black cloth container with zipper, containing several medium size plastic sachet, three (3) Php 100 bills, marked money, an Air Gun Customized Riffle, a single motorcycle, Honda, XRM motorcycle, colored yellow, with white without licensed plate and a disposable lighter colored green.

Police Senior Superintendent Angelito A Casimiro, City Director of Zamboanga City Police Office, in his report, disclosed that prior to the operation, Police Superintendent Diomarie Albarico has received reports from their asset that the suspects especially the slain ex-soldier were engaged on the illegal drugs activities.

A buy-bust operation was conducted by the operatives of the said police station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group of Zamboanga City Police Station 7 employs an undercover policeman to act as the poseur buyer. However, the slain ex-soldier   sensed that the poseur buyer was a policeman, thus, he opened fire towards the police operatives that resulted a shoot-out. There was no casualty reported on the side of the law enforcers.

The Police Regional Office 9 warns those who are engaging on the nefarious activities and other criminal acts especially on the illegal drugs to refrain from doing such acts, because the police are intensifying their operations against those involved in illegal drugs.

The arrested persons are presently detained at the detention cell of Zamboanga City Police Station 7, while the confiscated illegal drugs were forwarded to Regional Crime Laboratory Office 9 for examinations including the confiscated firearms.

Appropriate charges will be filed in court against the suspects.
