PNP personnel of Dumalinao Municipal Police Station together with RID9 and 902nd MC RMFB9 in coordination with the Bureau of Customs conducted joint intel driven law enforcement operation against smuggled cigarettes at Purok Talaba, Barangay Camanga, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur at about 3:00 AM of July 3, 2022. The operation resulted in the interception of one unit green Mazda Bongo Dropside registered under the name of Louwella E Ibabao with completed address at Tubod (Capital) Lanao del Norte Region 10, driven by Al Fernandez Ibrahim, 35 years old, male; Nadz Sikal Ismael, 23 years old, married, truckman and Madzmur Azari Sahipa, 19 years old, single, all residents of Purok Sunrise, Guiwan, Zamboanga City. Aforesaid vehicle has a suspicious cargo wherein upon verification were boxes of sealed assorted brand of cigarettes with 72 cases of new far-red cigarettes, 23 cases of new far white cigarettes and 14 cases of fort black cigarettes with a total number of 109 cases of suspected smuggled/without tax stamps with an estimated market value of PhP 3,815,000.00. upon verification, the driver has no driver’s license and failed to present pertinent documents pertaining to the transported goods. Thus, he and his truckman were arrested for violation of R.A. 8424 (Tax Reform Act of 1997). The smuggled cigarettes together with the aforesaid vehicle (Mazda Bongo Dropside) will be turn over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for proper disposition. The suspects were brought to Dumalinao Municipal Police Station for documentation.
