The Philippine National Police joins the whole nation in observing the 118th anniversary of the proclamation of the Philippine Independence. The PNP, in coordination with the national and local organizing committees, will be in the forefront of ensuring the security and traffic preparations for all the events in relation to the Independence Day.
Aside from assisting and ensuring public safety and order in the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies nationwide on June 12, 2016, the PNP will also join in the different activities such as the "Masikalayaan" Concert on June 11, 2016, 5:00 PM-10:00 PM at Auditorium, Rizal Park, Manila and establishment of the PNP service Booth 1 the Trade and Service Fairs and Job Fairs organized for the event at Rizal Park. The PNP assures that other normal public safety operation will not be compromised.
For possible mass protest, the PNP upholds the basic rights on freedom of speech and the right to freedom of peaceful assembly. With the possible mass protest, COM contingents were given instructions to exercise maximum tolerance but are ready for calibrated response should risks to life and limbs for both demonstrators and police personnel are imminent.
The PNP encourages demonstrators to perform their acts peacefully and within the bound of law as it is also our duty to protect the rights of other people which may be violated by their actions. The PNP calls for public's support and cooperation in preventing untoward incidents and crime situations during the Independence Day Celebration.
