Anti-Terrorism Forum Held in ZC

Hundreds of Muslim students and faculties from Addhiya Islamic School benefited from the Anti-Terrorism Forum entitled as “Role of Ulama in Peace building” held at Addhiya Institute, Maestra Vicenta, Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City on July 22, 2017. The forum with the theme “Pagsumadja Sin Magkasi-Lasa” centered on the role of Ulama in suppressing violent extremism in Zamboanga Peninsula was one of the highlighted activities of PRO9 in celebration of the 22nd PCR month.

It is also a joint effort by Council of Advisers for Muslim Advancement (CAMA) and Police Regional Office 9 in coordination with Addhiya Institute. PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, PRO9 Regional Director, expressed his strong support to the effort of CAMA in the fight against terrorism and assured the Council and the Muslim Religious Leaders that PRO9 is willing to provide security to ensure its safety and security.

During the forum, PDIR SUKARNO IKBALA (Ret) presented a briefing presentation on Background of ISIS, their terroristic acts, and measures to counter Terrorist Group, the Roles of Ulama and Asatidz in Counter-terrorism and Peace building. BGEN. MOHAMMAD NUR ASKALANI (Ret) discussed the background of Council of Advisers for Muslim Advancement (CAMA), its role, and objectives. Meanwhile, BGEN AMINKADRA UNDOG (Ret) speaking in behalf of CAMA, exalted the leadership of PRO9 Regional Director for supporting the forum.

PSUPT MADZGANI M MUKARAM, PRO9 RPCRD Chief, said that the forum intends to promote a harmonious relationship and cooperation between the Muslim leaders including the students of Islamic schools in Zamboanga City towards the Peace building efforts of the CAMA in the fight against terrorism in support of the PNP’s campaign on terrorism and prevention of violent extremism.
