The Police Regional Office 9 represented by PCINSP Helen L Galvez in partnership with the Task Force Zamboanga and Armed Forces & Police Savings & Loans Association Inc. (AFPSLAI) held a Peace-building and Awareness Program/Seminar on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism at Covered Court, Barangay Labuan, Zamboanga City on October 25, 2018.
The said activity was attended by more than three hundred (300) participants composed of the Barangay residents, elders, youth, Muslim devotees, religious sector, students of Madrasah (Islamic school), NGOs and Barangay Officials.
Among the resource speakers were: Hon. Teodyver A Arquiza, Councilor, 2nd District of Zamboanga, City, Mr. Rolando Lito M Malana, Branch Manager of AFPSLAI, Zamboanga, Imam Hamid P Solem, President of Salam Volunteer , Hon. Ronald O Maravilla, Brgy. Chairman of Labuan and Cpt. Nilbert N Dagpin, Acting CMO, 11th IB of Joint Task Force Zamboanga and Ustadz Abdulbasit L Amilassan, an Islamic scholar.
PCINSP Galvez, in her message to the participants, extend a heartfelt appreciation to all the guests and participants for accepting the PNP’s anti-violent extremism initiative and for allowing the linkage to be firmly revitalized. She pointed out that the best strategy against radical minds and violent behavior is to feel one’s concern by giving attention, presence and comfort with each other, and to have a heart to heart talk by touching one’s emotion with encouragement and sympathy.
