Police Regional Office 9 is in deep sorrow for the loss of a dedicated and courageous member of the police force. With great admiration, PRO9 considers him as valiant man as he ignored the danger in dealing with the members of the syndicated crime group whom he and his group have encountered.
Report reaching Police Regional Office 9 disclosed that in the early evening of March 27, 2015, PO1 Dumasig together with other operatives of Dinas Municipal Police Station, served a warrant of arrest against Saudi Nanding belonging to Ambol Criminal Group. However, while approaching the hide-out of the subject located at Barangay Benuatan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, his team was fired upon. As a result of the gun battle that ensued, the suspect was hit by a bullet, but unfortunately PO1 Dumasig was also hit on his body. Both were rushed to Chavez Medical Clinic in Barangay Poblacion but expired while undergoing treatment.
Operatives of Dinas Municipal Police Station recovered at the encounter site the following - a Sam Elite Mark caliber .45 Pistol wiith serial number E07043992, a holster and a magazine loaded with five rounds of ammunition.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Edilberto G. Absin of Regional Trial Court, Branch 29, Pagadian City against Saudi Nanding for violation of RA 9165. With the neutralization of Saudi Nanding, it is believed that the Ambol Criminal Group is immobilized and pre-empted all their future plans to carry-out criminal activities in the area.
The leadership of Police Regional Office 9 extends its financial assistance to the bereaved family of the late Police Non-Commissioned Officer. The concerned offices were directed to expedite the processing of the documents for the immediate release of benefits due for the grieving family of PO1 Dumasig.
