PNP Denounces Abduction of 5 Cops in Davao City by the NPA

Five PNP personnel on board a patrol vehicle of Davao City Police Office were reportedly abducted by a group of heavily-armed NPA rebels clad in military uniforms in Purok 5, Barangay Mapula, Paquibato, Davao City on April 16, 2016. The PNP strongly condemns the recent atrocity perpetrated by the NPA against the PNP who were in the performance of their legal mandate.

PRO9 Regional Director PCSUPT MIGUEL C ANTONIO JR., assures the public that that the PNP organization will seek those responsible, gather the evidences and file the appropriate charges against them, ensuring its own response to lawless aggressors are always in accordance with law and human rights.

The Philippine National Police has launched a pursuit operations against the perpetrators and has ensured that PNP line units will take a more proactive approach to counter atrocities by the NPA.

Likewise, the PNP assures the public that it will steadily perform its duties in serving and protecting the people and in maintaining the peace and security of the country, while taking steps in guaranteeing personal security to prevent becoming victims of similar atrocious acts.

The captive policemen were released by the rebels on April 16, 2016.
