Police Regional Office 9 Acting Regional Director, PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, directed all PNP units under PRO9 to intensify manhunt operations against Most Wanted Persons in Zamboanga Peninsula. This guidance resulted in the arrest of a high valued target by joint elements of CIDG9, Zamboanga Del Norte Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch, 17th Special Forces Company - HSC, 6th SF BN, PA, 44th IB, Philippine Army, MIG9, MIG10 and NICA9 during the conduct of law enforcement operations in the service of warrant of arrest against Abner Gumandol a.k.a. Sehar Muloc a.k.a. “Red Eye” in Barangay Kaliantana, Municipality of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay on June 12, 2016 at about 1:00 AM.
Abner Gumandol has a standing warrant of arrest for Kidnapping docketed under Criminal Case No. 20128 issued by Judge Cherry Concha of RTC Branch 10 of Dipolog City.
Gumandol is the leader of Muloc Criminal Group operating in the Municipalities of Salug, Liloy, Godod and Tampilisan in Zamboanga Del Norte, and was involved in various illegal activities such as extortion, robbery, kidnap-for-ransom and gun-for-hire.
Likewise, he has a direct link to Abu-Sayyaf Group (ASG) Sub-Leader Idang Susukan, responsible in the kidnapping of Mayor Jeffrey Lim of Salug in 2012, and Rolando Del Torchio, an Italian national inside his Pizza Resto Bar on October 7, 2015 in Dipolog City. Del Torchio was released on April 8, 2016 in Jolo, Sulu and was found aboard MV Beatrice by elements of Jolo PNP.
PCSUPT BELTRAN lauded and commended the participating PNP/AFP elements for a job well done and for their utmost effort and immediate action against the arrested ASG-linked KFRG member who attempted to evade the pursuing government forces. He likewise reminds and urges the general public to continue their support and cooperation to the local police in their respective barangays or communities to provide relevant information on any wanted person who may be hiding in their respective places.
