Sub-Leader Of Ali-Barahama Kidnap Group Arrested In Ipil (Update)

A notorious sub-leader of the dreaded Barahama Kidnap for Ransom Group (KFRG) was arrested during the law enforcement operation carried out by joint elements of Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 9 and 44th Infantry Battalion, Phil. Army, at Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay at about around 4:30 PM of August 20, 2016.

PSSUPT ROMULO CLEVE N TABOSO, Provincial Director, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, identified the arrested member of the CG/ KFRG as Hassim Calon aka "Sing-ging" or "Hussein", a sub-leader of Ali-Barrahama Ali Criminal Gang/Kidnap For Ransom Group operating in Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

Hassim Calon has standing warrant of Arrest for the Crime of kidnapping for ransom docketed under criminal case Number I-5832 issued by Honorable Judge Anthony Isaw, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 24, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Hassim Calon was involved in several kidnapping incidents in Zamboanga Sibugay, particularly the kidnapping of Joel Indino in Ipil last January 29, 2011 and Richard Warren Rodwell, an Australian national in December 2011.  He is also a notorious illegal drug dealer and listed in the watchlist of illegal drug personalities in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The arrest of Hassim Colon is the result of an intensified implementation of Project “Double Barrel” particularly on High Value Targets.

PCSUPT BILLY B. BELTRAN, Acting Regional Director, Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) lauded and commended the participating PNP/AFP elements for a job well done and for their utmost efforts and action which led to arrest of the Kidnap for Ransom Group sub-leader who is also involved in illegal drug trade in Ipil municipality and has evaded the pursuing government forces for several years.
