CAMP COL. ABENDAN, Zamboanga City - The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) is set to deploy 692 newly graduate police officers who will undergo Field Training Program (FTP)-on Job Training in the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City.
Police Colonel Ronaldo L Llanera, Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) led the send-off ceremony of the 742 new cops for Field Training Exercise of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) Masiklab Classes of 2018-01 held at PRO9 Headquarters, Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on July 15, 2019.
The 692 police trainees, who will be under the watch of Regional Special Training Units 9 (RSTU9), have been distributed to the Provincial Headquarters and City Police, wherein 450 of them deployed to Zamboanga City Police Office and 59 went to Zamboanga Sibugay. On the other hand, 91 police officers went to Zamboanga del Sur while 92 deployed to Zamboanga del Norte.
For six (6) months, respective Field Training Officers (FTO) and senior police officers of Zamboanga City Police Office, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur is expected to mold the new breed of police officers who will be exposed to actual police works in the field of patrol, investigation and other police works.
The police trainees underwent PSBRC training for six months at the Regional Training Center (RTC) and will be turned over to Field Training Officers, who will directly supervise and orient them on the first-hand scenarios and police field duty.
Meanwhile, the PRO9 is instructing the Muslim female PNP personnel in the Field Training Program (FTP) to wear their traditional white Hijab head cover together with their PNP uniform while in the performance of their duty as patrol officers. This is to foster peace and oneness of the PNP with the Muslim community in the region.
