PRO9 Readies security preparation for Labor Day Celebration Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic

Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City - The Police Regional Office 9 is set to deploy police forces on the ground all over the region during the Labor Day Celebration on May 1, 2020, in case various groups or organizations including threat groups might hold mass and untoward actions disrupting the peace and order of the event.

PBGEN FROILAN F QUIDILLA, PRO9 Regional Director, said that the deployment of police forces amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is to ensure that the observance of Labor day across the region will be free of violence and will not violate the gudielines of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) specially on the aspect of social distancing.

The Regional Director added that in Zamboanga Peninsula, Labor Day is being celebrated peacefully as LGUs and other government agencies fittingly pays tribute to the Filipino workforce. PRO9 will be strategically deploying additional personnel to cover other aspects of police operation such as traffic management, civil disturbance management, anti-criminality and counter-terrorism, emergency response and other necessary measures for an orderly, peaceful and successful labor day celebration.

He also discouraged the different groups or organization who are set to hold mass actions/protests as the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is still in effect in the entire region which prohibits mass gatherings.

The Regional Director has already directed the Provincial Directors of the different PPOs and City Director of Zamboanga City Police Office to implement the security preparations for the observance of Labor Day on May 1, 2020 in their respective places.
