PRO9: No Let Up in Anti-Illegal Drugs Operation Despite COVID-19 Crisis

Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City -  The Police Regional Office 9 will not let up their campaign against illegal drugs as dedicated drug enforcement unit from the different police units in the entire region are continuing their persistent operations amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

PBGEN FROILAN F QUIDILLA, Regional Director, PRO9, said that since the start of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) implementation on March 16, 2020 up to this date, a total of 722 anti-illegal drugs operation were conducted which resulted to the arrest of 810 drug personalities and confiscation of 18 assorted firearms.

Formal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 had been filed against the arrested drug suspects, he added.

The Regional Director elaborated further that the success of drug the war in the region is due to the relentless efforts exerted by the different police units despite the strict implementation of ECQ.

He thanked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), AFP counterparts, and drug abuse council, including the community for their cooperation and support and urged the public to remain cooperative by informing the police on the presence of illegal drugs activities in their community through the “Isumbong Mo, I-ACTION Ko” Hotline Numbers 0977-3102365 and 0961-2977064.
