Relative of Abu Sayyaf Group Leader Arrested in Zamboanga City

Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City –A member of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was arrested by combined operatives of Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company (ZCMFC), Zamboanga City Police Station 3, Regional Intelligence Unit 9 and Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 during law enforcement operation through serving of search warrant in Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City at about 10 PM of June 18, 2020.

PBGEN Jesus D Cambay, Jr., PRO9 Regional Director identified the arrested ASG member as Kahar Indama a.k.a. “Khang”, legal age and a resident of above-mentioned place. He was arrested by virtue of Search Warrant # 2020-244 for Violation of RA 10591 issued by RTC, 9th Judicial Region, Office of the Executive Judge, Zamboanga City dated June 18, 2020.

Recovered items during the search are the following: Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components including a detonation blasting cap, detonating cord complete firing device and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with 3 ammunitions.

Kahar Indama is an ASG member and cousin of Basilan based ASG leader Furuji Indama. He is an IED expert and was involved in bombing incident that killed the late Basilan Congressman Wahab Akbar and the wounding of 7 others wherein two of whom are legislators at Batasan Complex, Quezon City last November 13, 2007. He is also involved in the ambush of 4th Special Force, Phil Army sometime in the year 2007 that resulted to the killing of seven CAFGU's, one BPAT and the wounding of three Army Officers, four enlisted personnel and one CAA.

The arrested person is now under the custody of the aurhorities.
