Chief, PNP Marks 1st Command Visit to PRO9

Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City – The Chief of Phillipine National Police PGEN Archie Francisco F Gamboa made his first command visit to Police Regional Office 9 Headquarters in Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City on June 23, 2020. The 21st Chief of the PNP was welcomed by the selected men and women of PRO9 headed by PBGEN Jesus D Cambay, Jr and accorded with the traditional foyer honor upon his arrival at the camp as physical distancing and other safety protocols were observed and practiced in the camp.

In his traditional “talk to men”, the Chief PNP commended the 8, 000 men and women of PRO9 for their continuous dedication and commitment in maintaining the peace and order across the region.  

PGEN Gamboa graced the inauguration of PRO9 officers lounge and ground breaking of extension of PRO9 Headquarters Building. He also witnessed the static displayed of PRO9 best practices and presentation of accomplishment, such as seaborne tactical boat static display to be utilized in seawaters across the region, presentation of explosive detection dogs and their handlers ready for 180 day course on basic explosive detection and canine handler course to address terrorism and criminanlity in the region, displayed of 403 assorted firearms surrendered and 462 units of assorted firearm confiscated, displayed of firearms including equipments such as ballistic shield and GPS, displayed of various PPEs and vitamins for frontliners.

The Chief, PNP also pinned merit medals to deserving PNP personnel who were recognized for their operational and administrative accomplishement. Among the awardees are:

PBGEN Ronaldo L Llanera, Deputy Regional Director for Administrations and PCOL John G Guyguyon, Deputy Regional Director for Operations, who were cited for medalya ng kadakilaan for being the task force commander of PRO9 admin support to COVID-19 task force and joint regional task force COVID shield commander.

PMAJ Ramon Bautista Jr, Station Commander of Zamboanga City Police Station 9, given the medalya ng kagalingan and cited for the arrest of Alnajim Asakil during the conduct of police operations and confiscation of 1 kilo Shabu in Zamboanga City

PMAJ Elmer P Solon, Station Commander of Zamboanga City Police Station 11, given the medalya ng kagalingan and recognized for the arrest of Jumdana Abdukarim Didang and confiscation of Shabu worth 1.5 million pesos.

PLTCOL Restituto A Pangusban, Company Commander of 2nd Provincial Mobile Company, given the medalya ng kagalingan and cited for the neutralization of Maulana Aburi of criminal gang under Abral Abdusalam group linked with ASG of Sulu.

PLTCOL Rolando H Barraquio, Company Commander of Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company, given the medalya ng kagalingan and cited for the arrest of Kahar Indama of ASG Basilan based under Furuji Indama.

PLTCOL Concordio N Apolonio, Chief, Regional Service Unit, given the medalya ng kasanayan and cited for leading his personnel in the improvement of PRO9 camp sorrounding.

PSMS Roderick M Flores of Regional Commel Unit, given the medalya ng papuri and cited for coming up an initiative for installing radio repeater with ultra high frequency covering mountanious and seawaters including coastal areas in Zamboanga Sibugay.

PSSg Henrick Ageas and NUP Melquiades Potoy III of Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office, who passed the 2019 Bar exam, recognized and were given incintives of their feat.

Meanwhile, the Chief PNP had a virtual press briefing with the members of PRO9 press corps via Facebook page live. Thereafter, He along with PMGEN Reynaldo Biay, Directorate for Personnel Records Management and PBGEN Maarni Marcos, Directorate for Comptroler held a command conference and meeting with key police officials in the region.
