Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City - Police General Debold M Sinas. Chief of Philippine National Police formally installed Police Brigadier Gen. Ronaldo Genaro E Ylagan as the new regional director of the Police Regional Office 9 following the Assumption of Command Ceremony held at PRO9 Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on December 19, 2020.
In his assumption speech, the newly installed regional director is grateful to the Chief PNP’s trust and confidence bestowed upon him to lead the men and women of PRO9. “As I take on the challenges, we will pursue relentless effort of harness capabilities to protect and serve, excellence performance in the delivery of police service will be our number one priority, I know my predecessor have started it but we will continue doing it.
“Enforcement of the law must be felt by our citizen down to the street level and full might of the law must be felt by criminals. We must keep our citizen in the street safe and I will make my term of office a period of more improved service to our people” he said.
He vowed to implements the program thrusts of the Chief PNP which is to fight against illegal drugs, corruption, terrorism, insurgency and illegal gambling. “Under my watch, I will assure that all the plans and program of the Chief PNP will be anchored on this direction and implemented properly”. Ylagan said.
He also directed the different police directors/ city directors including chiefs of police and unit commanders all over the region to implement the no take policy as order by the Chief PNP. “I will be strict in implementing the discipline in our ranks, Pairalin natin ang disiplina sa ating hanay at lalo na sa ting sarili”, he further said.
He called and enjoined the men and women of PRO9 to support and cooperate with him. “Let us work hand and hand in accomplishing our mission and notably with all of us will be together and the cooperation of our citizen, we can live up with the expectation of our people.
PGEN Debold M Sinas, Chief PNP meanwhile stressed out that following the assumption of PBGEN Ylagan as the new regional director, PRO9 is in good hands. “I am sure that this office will be in good hands as your new regional director would always be the epitome of an effective and efficient leader who will always find ways to reach out with the general public through different programs and projects”. He said.
PBGEN Ylagan replaced outgoing PRO-9 director Police Brigadier General Jesus D Cambay Jr, who was reassigned to the Directorate for Police Integrated Police Operation (DIPO) – Southern Luzon ending his six-month stint as regional director.
PBGEN Ylagan is a native of Gumaca, Quezon Province and member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990. Prior to his new assignment, the incoming regional director was the Director of Northern Police District (NPD) – National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO). He also served as the Chief Regional Staff (CRS) and Deputy Director for Operations (DRDO) of National Capital Regional Police Office. He has been accustomed with the culture and tradition in the region as he was assigned at PRO9 in 2011 designated as Chief of Regional Logistic Division where he crafted various projects and innovations.
