Executive Motorcycle Riding Course Closing Ceremony held in Camp Batalla

Camp Gen Eduardo B Batalla, R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City – The Executive Motorcycle Riding Course Class 02-2021 “Wildcats” Closing Ceremony was held in Camp Eduardo Batalla, R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City on March 16, 2021.

The Executive Motorcycle Riding Course, a 16 day rigorious training conducted to equip the participants with motorcycle riding skills necessary to enhance the safety as well as the proficiency in using and operating Motorcycles, specifically, big bikes.

The training aims to develop safe riding skills such as evading traffic hazards on the roadway and skills development on dangerous situations, developing proper posture, accelerator control and calculation; developing flexibility of the waist, correct circulation on stiff situation, riding and passing safely between columns of motor vehicles in motion along the road, overcoming unexpected obstacles/eventualities, and familiarization in the use of motorcycle in the highways.

It is an effective skills training especially for beginners to familiarize themselves with big bikes. Most road accidents involve small motorcycles which are less than 400 cc which means they do not belong to the big bike category.

This training is especially unique, since riders of small motorbikes use more of their arms in maneuvering while riders of the big bikes use their bodies more in doing it.

On January 26, 2021, the reception rites took place, with 35 Police Commissioned Officers. As a tradition, every participants shall undergo the rigorious reception rites, composing of the execution of the Rider’s Exercise, and the traditional crawl under the big bike, before they will be able to ride the said motorcyles.

Various techniques and skills in big bike riding were taught and demonstrated by the Tiger Riders of the Highway Patrol Unit 9, the instructors of the EMCRC Class 02-2021.

As the final phase of the training and for the participants to be accepted as full-fledged riders, they participated in the long ride, with Zamboanga City as starting point, the riders travelled all the way to Zamboanga Sibugay.

During the closing ceremony, the Regional Director of PRO9 stated that he is glad that the PRO9 have new set of riders serving as assets who are well equipped with riding skills and in the operation of big bikes. (PRO9-PIO)
