FESAGS 9 personnel served a Cease-To-Operate order on March 30, 2016 to the following security agencies - Chameleon Security Agency, Metro Goldwyn and Goldwyn Security Agency. This resulted in the turn-over of thirty-six assorted firearms to their office by said agencies for safekeeping.

Zamboanga Sibugay - Combined personnel of Regional Intelligence Unit 9, PNP-Intelligence Group, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime – Western Mindanao Field Office / PAOCC, Regional Intelligence Division, ZSBPPO Provincial Intelligence Branch, ZSBPPO Provincial Public Safety Company, 3rd RPSB9 Maneuver Company, 16th MICO, 12th MICO, 102nd Brigade, and Naga MPS, conducted a law enforcement operation that resulted in the neutralization of kidnap-for-ransom group leader Wanning Abdusalam, also known as Muhideen Abdusalam Uyong.

An international lecturer and a renowned author of many inspirational and motivational books worldwide and a religious attaché of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia were both wounded after conducting lecture inside the Western Mindanao State University gymnasium at about 8:30 PM of March 1, 2016. Dr. Aidh al-Qarni and Sheikh Turki Assaegh were both wounded by a gunman identified as Rugasan Misuari III while two other suspects were arrested by the responding lawmen after the shooting incident that occurred inside the WMSU Campus.

Safety and Security of Korean Nationals in the Philippines

The Philippines is among the countries the Korean nationals prefer to visit as per recent statistics, stating that more than one million of them are arriving annually while 89,000 are already residing in the country. However, based on the figures gathered and released by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, there were 856 crime situations concerning Korean nationals in 2015, 506 of those were incidents involving them as victims.
